Post Modern Group Acquires Sea Movies - Cruise Line Media Services Supplier Expands Services
IRVINE, Calif., August 23, 2010 — The Post Modern Group (PMG) is pleased to announce it has completed the acquisition of Los Angeles based Sea Movies, a distributor of major theatrical box office hit movies and TV shows to cruise lines around the world. The acquisition complements the services currently provided by the Group’s AMP International division, which provides content management and technical services related to the delivery of Hollywood movies and TV programming to cruise lines and airlines. AMP customers include Princess Cruises and P&O Australia, as well as a host of leading airlines worldwide including US Airways and Singapore Airlines. AMP International and Post Modern Group are headquartered in Irvine, south of Los Angeles, and have offices in Las Vegas, London, Beirut, Singapore and Beijing.
Sea Movies will continue to be led by Harvey Baren, who founded the company twenty years ago in partnership with prior owner Entertainment In Motion. Baren is well known in the cruise line industry and an established veteran of film distribution studios such as 20th Century Fox, MGM and United Artists. Baren commented, “We have worked closely with AMP for several years as they have provided technical support for the use of our content in today’s digital entertainment systems, so this will be a seamless transition which can only benefit our customers”.
Travis Peterson, Director, Product Development at AMP, commented, “The addition of Sea Movies to the Post Modern Group will enable us to bring a broader range of synergistic services to cruise lines around the world. Sea Movies’ extensive content line-up will be supported by the wide range of media management and technical services, as well as hardware support, provided by AMP and the other Post Modern Group divisions.”
